At BNH, we have mastered the mechanics of conducting Training Needs Analysis (TNA) and Training System Requirements Analysis (TSRA) and developing Training Strategies.

Since 1987, BNH has been developing tools to simplify and speed-up analysis, in order to reduce training costs and maximize return on investment (ROI). We have achieved this by zeroing in on the following key question:

  • Is training needed? Are we developing knowledge, skills and competencies required by the unit/organization to achieve missions/goals?

  • Is training effective? Are we addressing all other issues including expectations, feedback, resources, incentives, capacity or motivation, that impact performance?

  • How should training be delivered? Are we using the most effective and economical blend of delivery options?

  • How should training budgets and resources be allocated? Are we funding programs with greatest impact and identifying problem areas?

 

Beyond asking the right questions, we have the right skills:

  • We have in-depth knowledge of how adults learn. In the late 80’s and early 90’s, we conducted several studies on effective adult learning theories with McGill University, Cognitive Science Lab.

  • We have extensive experience in every aspect of traditional, as well as, technology based (eLearning) instruction; including: instructor-led, print, tapes, computer and web based training, multimedia, performance support tools, conferencing, internet virtual classrooms, trainers, simulators and virtual reality – as well as informal delivery options including serious gaming, mobile learning, social networks, wikis, blogs, tweets and virtual worlds. In the mid 90’s, we published a 250-page "Technologies in Distance Learning and Workplace Training" reference guide and delivered dozens of workshops.

  • Our methodology is based on scientific principles and supported by extensive research. In the late 90’s a 30 member advisory board – including experts from US Army, Air Force and Navy, Canadian Forces, FDIC, Nortel Networks, Merck & Company – oversaw the research and development of our decision support tool, ADVISOR, and validated the results.

  • Our methodology is practical and produces measurable results. Over the past 15 years dozens of organizations, including, Canadian Forces, US Army, US Navy, US Air Force, Canadian International Development Agency, Department of Foreign Affairs, US Courts, Kraft Foods and First Data, realized hundreds of thousands of dollars in documented savings, dramatic improvements in job performance, productivity and skill level as a result of ADVISOR and our consulting services.

  • We have proven track record. Our products and services have been successfully implemented within several large scale projects in the USA, Canada, UK, Australia, Netherlands and Singapore – including the Joint Strike Fighter (JSF), Tactical Airlift (C130J), Basic Wing Course (BWC), Operational System Training Provider (OTSP), Blackhawk (CH-53K), Poseidon (P-8A), Military Flying Training System (MFTS), Defence Training Review (DTR), Air Force Technical Training Renewal (ATTR), Army Land Vehicle Crew Training, Polar Ice Breaker and many others.
